2002 - 2012
Location: Shimizucho, Hokkaido

On a vast plot of land of approximately 400 hectares, the Tokachi Millennium Forest, originating from Tokachi Mainichi Newspaper Inc.’s afforestation activities for the sake of environmental contribution, has been nurturing a rich environment for visitors to get in touch with nature, by a variety of means that encompass forestry, gardening, agriculture, art and food.
P3 took charge of direction and exhibition coordination for the “Art Line.” With displays of works by international artists, this part of the program aims to function as a “gateway” for understanding the multilayered spatial and historical characteristics of this particular region: the “time in the forest” engendered by nature; the “time in memory” of the ideas of indigenous people and the efforts of pioneers; and the “time in eternity” as defined by the universe itself.
After the installation of Ingo Gunther’s “210 Small and Medium Pieces Occasionally Taking Shape” and Yoko Ono’s “Sky TV” at the “Tokachi International Contemporary Art Exhibition: Demeter” in 2002, P3 remained in charge of direction, coordination, and cooperation with artists at the Tokachi Millennium Forest.
