6 December 2017 - 5 December 2018
Location: Samegaura, Miyagi

This was a post office that was open only once a week on Wednesdays. Collected there were letters illustrating the things that happened to someone, somewhere, on a Wednesday.

A temporary “post office” (actually not more than a letter box) was installed in the former fishing port of Samegaura on Miyatojima, which belongs to Higashi-matsushima in Miyagi, to which people across Japan were asked to send letters telling of events and occurrences on Wednesdays. The letters that eventually arrived at the “post office” were then randomly forwarded in exchange to other senders (with personal information blacked out), so that everyone who contributed their own story received another Wednesday account from some unknown person in return.
The only things that passed through the Wednesday Post Office were countless tiny stories about things happening on Wednesdays. All of them were trivial yet lively little tales that don’t deserve to be drowned out by other, bigger narratives. The Wednesday Post Office served as a platform for such little voices to exchange.
