P3 has been involved in the coordination of art projects hosted by the Iwaki Performing Arts Center Alios since it opened in Iwaki, Fukushima Prefecture.
The name “Alios” was created from the first letters in the words “art,” “life,” “information,” “oasis” and “sightseeing.”

Taking place here in 2017- 2019 was the “Laundry of the Senses” Iwaki tour by Yoshinari Nishio, an artist whose activities have been revolving around fashion as a key element. Focusing on clothing as an inseparable part of daily life, the tour gathered visitors/participants who hand-washed garments at public places, such as parks that function as oases in the city. The time it took for the laundry to dry was used for creating art depicting the changing cityscape, or having lunch. The project further encompassed sightseeing tours with a “mobile laundry” – a cart loaded with washing tools – observing the town’s various laundry, and exhibits and workshops in other areas. The tour culminated in a large installation at the Alios building, which celebrates its tenth anniversary this year, and the adjacent park. Based on the idea to share valuable information on the participating areas and individuals, various documents were collected at each station of the tour, and eventually displayed at Alios.
