Playwright and stage director Richard Foreman founded the Ontological-Hysteric Theater company in New York in 1968, and has been renowned as a pioneer in the field of avant-garde theater. When seeing a performance of his play “The Mind King” in New York, Koichi Makigami was so impressed by its unique style, that he decided to produce what eventually became the first serious introduction to Forman’s theatrical vision in Japan.
