August 2012 – March 2021
Kobe was designated as a “Creative City of Design” as part of the UNESCO Creative Cities Network in 2008. In August 2012, the Design and Creative Center Kobe (KIITO) opened as a base facility and creative hub in the refurbished former Raw Thread Inspection Center, located in the seaside part of the Sannomiya district in central Kobe. P3 was part of the administration consortium, and Takashi Serizawa was appointed Center Director.
Next to hosting events related to design and art, the facility also offers various rental spaces and offices. Between 2012 and 2020, P3 was in charge of planning events and programs mainly in the art category, which included “KIITO Artist in Residence,” “Kobe Studies” and “Future Fragment Lab.”
