Ingo Gunther is an artist who was born in 1957 in Germany, and who now lives in New York. Working at once also as a journalist, he has been highly influential as an innovator in the field of media art. In works like the “World Processor” series, encompassing over 300 illuminated globes that highlight various aspects concerning planet Earth; and the “Refugee Republic,” a project revolving around a virtual community of refugees around the world beyond the frameworks of nationality, he interconnects journalism and art, to visualize a variety of issues related to nationality, technology, individuality and media. Informed by a particular ability to think and act on a global scale, his activities further include research into international diplomacy, and participation in the World Economic Forum among others.
