Casagrande & Rintala

Casagrande & Rintala traveled 12,000 kilometres from Finland to Obihiro, Hokkaido by Land Rover. They collected axes and photographs of old women from 24 areas that they drove through. The photos and axes were exhibited in 24 stalls in the stable. In the background, they played recordings of radio broadcasts from the 24 areas where they traveled.

Demeter was an international contemporary art exhibition in 2002 held with the Obihiro Racetrack as its main venue. Ten groups of fourteen international artists participated: Shigeaki Iwai, Ingo Gunter, Wolfgang Winter & Berthold Horbelt, Yoko Ono, Casagrande & Rintala, Tadashi Kawamata, Kim Sooja, Cai Guo Qiang, Cine Nomad, nIALL/Masato Nakamura, Kenta Kishi, and Haruaki Tanaka.
